About Swift Brain

Swift Brain was founded in 2010 with the goal of creating a learning environment that is engaging and ebullient for our students. We primarily work with students to prepare for standardized tests, including the SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, TACHS, Regents, SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, GMAT and GRE. Swift Brain has since expanded to provide extra-curricular support in everything from addition and spelling to essay-writing and calculus.

We begin working with each student by administering a diagnostic test to asses their strengths and weaknesses. We use this data to pair students together and sort them into groups, if needed.

After they’re sorted into groups, students are expected to complete one of our proprietary practice tests each week at our test site. We will scan their bubble sheet and analyze the patterns that emerge to see which question categories they’re struggling with. We will then reconvene as a group or one-on-one to work through those problem categories.

If one of our tutors isn’t an expert in the subject you’re studying, we’re certain there’s someone we can pair you with in our extensive network in the New York City area. Reach out if you have any questions!

About Our Tutors

Brian Swift

Brian is the founder of Swift Brain. Over the past decade, he has helped hundreds of students drastically improve their test scores. His teaching experience runs the gamut from kindergartners to college graduates.

Brian began his tutoring journey on the other side of the classroom: as a student preparing for both the SHSAT and the ISEE. Thanks to his fastidious preparation, he received offers to Stuyvesant High School and Riverdale Country School.

He opted for Riverdale Country School, where he developed his love for math, science and the arts. He graduated from Riverdale to attend Parsons School of Design. He graduated from Parsons with a BFA in Menswear Design in 2018.

He started teaching and tutoring for standardized tests as a freshman at Riverdale. He was trained in the art of tutoring by a retired teacher who passed along her 50 years of teaching experience.

When he’s not working with students, he can be found changing his hair color, listening to esoteric electronic music and designing new clothing for his line Alacritous.
